Wellness To Go has been a very successful program that encourages local
corporations and companies to care for the health and well being of their
employees . LADD Industries is one of those companies that cares about
its employees by holding annual health screenings with the help of Wellness
Connection. Here's what Jan Walters, Executive Assistant for LADD Industries,
had to say about our service:
“As always, your service
is efficient and professional. Because of these screenings one of
our employees, who had the CRP (Cardiac
Reactive Protein screening that tests for inflammation
of the vessels
that can be a possible indicator of heart disease), discovered that
her reading
was, according to her doctor, triple what it should be.
She scheduled an appointment
immediately and is now on a path to correct
what potentially was a dangerous situation.”

Mary Buckner has lost weight, has better control of her high blood
pressure,
but best of all, she says she feels much better since joining
the Wellness
Connection's Lifestyle Management Program (LMP) in February
of 2004.
She has been able to keep her weight down with regular exercise,
and in
the process inspired her daughter to join her. But what was the
problem
to begin with?
Mrs. Buckner was diagnosed with osteoarthritis,
chronic pulmonary disease,
and had high blood pressure, all serious
health concerns. At the
recommendation of her physician, she began looking
into ways to change
her situation, and Wellness Connection is where
she chose to begin making
changes in her lifestyle .
“It was hard to begin coming in at first, then it wasn't so bad, and
now
I look forward to coming,” shared Mrs. Buckner.
Ohio Cruising for a Cure
Patron and Thankful Participant of our Screenings
“Found early enough, it can be successfully treated,” advised
Roger Zappe, a three-year esophageal cancer survivor now battling prostate
cancer, which was detected at the 2004 Ohio Cruising For A Cure event.
Zappe's
wife, Darva, said there were no symptoms present at the time of his screening. “I just wanted him to take advantage of the screening
since it was free, and it had been two years since his last one.” Then
came the call.
“Someone from The Wellness Connection called and told me my PSA results
were high. So I called my family doctor, and he asked me to come in,” shared
Roger.
Over the past four months, Zappe has been taking hormone therapy,
and will soon endure 40-45 days of radiation, as well as Lupron treatments
every 90 days, yet his sincere gratitude and joy resignates in his voice.
“It's weird,” he said of his second battle with cancer. “But
I'm optimistic. I'm okay.”
