In July, 2003, The Dayton Area Heart & Cancer
Association changed its
name to Wellness Connection of the Dayton Region. Its roots in the
Dayton community go back over 50 years to the Dayton Heart Association
and the Montgomery County Society for Cancer Control—two organizations
formed to address unmet needs in the local community. These two organizations
merged in 1994 to become The Dayton Area Heart & Cancer Association.
After an intensive visioning process, the agency expanded its vision to
focus
on wellness instead of disease. We still provide services for people
with
heart disease and cancer, but we help anyone wanting to reduce their
risk
of serious illness make healthy lifestyle changes. We continue to
be a totally local agency, providing early detection screenings, health
education and healthy living services right here in this community, serving
people we all know and love.
