The Wellness Connection of the Dayton Region is proud to announce
that
we have become the new Dayton Charter of The Wellness
Community. We will
be raising funds to open this program to the
Dayton area in 2008.
The Wellness Community (TWC) is a national non-profit organization
dedicated to providing free support, education and hope to people
with
cancer and their loved ones. Through participation in professionally
led support groups, educational workshops, nutrition and exercise
programs
and mind/body classes, people affected by cancer learn vital
skills that
enable them to regain control, reduce isolation and
restore hope, regardless of the
stage of their disease.
A cancer diagnosis may create emotions such as isolation, loss of control
and perhaps, worst of all, loss of hope. These overwhelming emotions
are
often the hallmark of cancer. By sharing with others who are fighting
the illness or who have recovered from it, people with cancer can gain
hope and a renewed will to live.
All services at The Wellness Community are offered free of charge
to
our participants.
“Cancer patients
who participate in their fight for recovery along with
their health care team will
improve the quality of their lives and may
enhance the possibility
of their recovery.”
Harold H .Benjamin, Ph.D.
Founder of The Wellness Community
In addition to the programs and services provided by The Wellness
Community at their facilities worldwide, they also offer online support
groups and a wide range of patient education materials at www.thewellnesscommunity.org.
